Arktek LLC

The house shown in the photos below was built by Gaffney Homes for a private customer in Albemarle County Virginia and finished in 2010.  This is a very large custom home that was designed from scratch by Arktek LLC with design input from Gaffney Homes and the homeowner.  The plans for this house were literally started from ideas and a blank piece of paper.

The Design Process

This was a very challenging project from the start.  We started by drawing bubble diagrams to illustrate the intended relationship of rooms to each other and the traffic flow of the house. This was turned into a schematic design in sketch form  based on square footage requirements and pushed and pulled until we arrived at a design which the customers were happy with.

Budgeting Revisions and Construction Drawings

The plans were then re-sized to match the budget and square footage requirements of the customer before proceeding with the final construction drawings.  Once the budgetary revisions were completed, the construction drawings were finalized and fully detailed so that construction could commence.
